Enhanced Mitigation Experience Toolkit (EMET)

EMET is a security toolkit by Microsoft which provides extra defense against malware.

This page provides links to the last version for each supported Windows version.

• 4.1 update 1 (installer, user guide) is the last version for:
  • Windows XP Service Pack 3
• 5.2 (installer, user guide) is the last version for:
  • Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 2
• 5.52 (installer, user guide) is the last version for:
  • Windows Vista Service Pack 2
  • Windows 7 Service Pack 1
  • Windows 8
  • Windows 8.1
  • Windows 10 (versions 1507, 1511, and 1607 only)
  • Windows Server 2008 Service Pack 2
  • Windows Server 2008 R2 Service Pack 1
  • Windows Server 2012
  • Windows Server 2012 R2

On all Windows versions, EMET requires .NET Framework 4.

EMET is not supported on Windows versions newer than those listed above. Some people have succeeded in installing version 5.52 to an older Windows version.

Configuration

Read the user guide. At minimum, I recommend enabling DEP globally and importing the Popular Software.xml configuration file to protect various popular applications. (Besides those, SumatraPDF can also be used with all mitigations.)
